13s La casa anaranjada

my house is the naranja one- I am only the left garage and the upper floor, a man lives on the bottom floor and his door is on the right
We have a couple really strong families in our ward. We went to dinner at one of their houses last night and they were having a noche de hogar (family home evening) and it was one of the most beautiful things ever. and I sort of want their little toddler. His name is Jagger. I’m serious that’s his name. HE IS SO CUTE. And we walked by another family’s house the other night and heard them singing a hymn for their noche de hogar too. I wish all the families in the ward were like them. We need stronger families in our ward.
Making no-bake cookies for our investigators

Funny story. So we lost 3 baptismal dates in 1 day because 1 investigator, Jenni, got a new job and works all day Sundays. and she hadn’t been keeping her commitments so that was the final thing that told us to drop her and her 8 year old son. The other investigator we dropped was hiding from us, so there you go. After that we were feeling pretty down so we were walking down the street like "WHY ON EARTH ARE THE LATINO PEOPLE SO OPEN ABOUT EVERYTHING EXCEPT THIS." like they call everyone fat straight up if they are fat (which I love) and they call me 15 years old (which I don’t) and all this stuff. But they won’t just tell us NO we don’t want you to visit. They just keep asking us to come back even though they don’t want us to. So anyway we were complaining about this and then we thought we would go talk to these three old people. So we were like "hey can we talk about Christ with you" or something and this lady was like straight up NO. wouldn’t even look us in the eyes. it was so funny. so funny. we were like well. I guess God has a sense of humor. We get what we ask for don’t we? Well since that put us in such a good mood the rest of our day was awesome. So awesome.
Diana and Sharon took us out to Little Caesars because they are awesome investigators

Dangit sorry I don’t have any more time. I will write more next week. Love you all. Stay strong. Be careful what you ask the Lord for hahahah

12s Esperanza

May 12th

Um I didn’t take notes this week on what to write. So. My zone is having some big changes this Wednesday but Im staying here of course. This next change is President and Hermana Hernandez´s LAST CHANGE!!! D: I love them. Im super sad. But still 6 more weeks, and then I will probably still be in Esperanza so my companion and I will have the awesome opportunity to get to know them first. We will see what happens.

BAPTISM! We baptized Maritza, a lady who has gone to church for 4 years, not joking. Her boyfriend left and all of a sudden she wanted to be baptized so we made it happen. People are saying miracles are happening in our ward. Love it.

We met Diana and Sharon this week; two sisters who live together with Diana´s 2 year old son too. They already agreed to be baptized after our first lesson. They love us and we love them and I feel so at home when I go to their house. They are WONDERFUL and so happy and welcoming.
<J>HAS GONE SINCE THE 1ST OF MAY WITHOUT SMOKING OR DRINKING. THIS IS HUGE. this is un milagro. Him and <L>are scheduled to be baptized on the 31st of May(Diana and Sharon, too) one week after their wedding if we can get the dang papers in order haha.

We made tortillas with a lady the other day and it was so fun.

We are working on visiting inactive members of our ward and most of the time after we visit them, they come to church and stay. we have had 3 like that so far :)

People are so open here. they tell you how it is, until you ask them to come to church. mentiras. why can’t they just tell us how it is then too?

Happy Mothers Day, skyping my fam was awesome.

Love you all,

h.steele

11s Frozen

Today was awesome. For P-day our zone went to the stake president’s house and hung out and watched Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs in Spanish and then Frozen in English. FROZEN WAS SO GOOOOODD AH!! Don’t worry we got permission from President ;) It was so awesome. so fun. ah.

So last night I read Alma 26. Earlier this week I had read verse 22 and it has become our motto and our goal for our mission.  The verse has four things to do: Repent, Exercise faith, Do good works, and Pray without ceasing. It says if you do these things, you will receive revelation which will lead you to bring souls to repentance. So this is what Hermana Groll and I are working on right now. We have high goals for June. June? Yeah June. Because if we don’t start working on meeting a goal for June in May, then we are never going to meet it if we start trying at the beginning of the month. We have a really high goal that I have faith we can meet. We have really gained the trust from the members in our ward. Remember the other hermanas in this past area weren’t so stellar. But I think people really love us. I mean, the president of my mission told us that soooo it much be true lolz. On Sunday, we were flooded with references. Like 4-6 families. We are contacting some tonight.

So it has been raining like craaazy this week. It stopped today and only sprinkled a little yesterday but the first day we got soaked running home and we were only a house down the street.... I have a video of the river going down our hill.

So fútbol (soccer)  is huge here. Which I knew but I didn’t realize how huge. We were really high up the other day when Madrid was playing (not even Honduras!!) and ohhh we knew when a goal was made. We heard cheers and air horns for miles coming from all different directions. It was so cool. And last night I think Argentina was playing and I think they won because there were fireworks outside for like 10 minutes.

There is a 99 year old woman and her 97 year old husband that are technically in our ward but they can’t go to church haha. But we like to go visit them every once and awhile. they are so cute!! he sang for us the other day. dont worry I got it on camera ;)

Right now we are on the fence with a lot of people on whether they are serious about this gospel or not. This next week we are really going to put the pressure on to get them serious or find out they haven’t been prepared. We need more time in our days sometimes I swear.

Alright thats all I have for now I think. Fam, talk to you on Mothers Day!

love,
h.steele
