26s Teguc, Brazil, September, Families, Eggs

WE WENT TO TEGUC! Not as exciting as I was hoping it to be. Teguc is a 3.5 hour bus ride from here in Cholu. Hna Gutierrez and I went because she needed to do some paperwork for her Brazil Visa at the Brazil Embassy. So we went in the morning, did the papers, and came back in the night time. I was hoping something would go wrong so we could stay the night in my old area Esperanza, but everything went perfect so dangit and we came back :P Hna Gutierrez is leaving the 8th, 9th, or 10th, so well be going to Teguc real soon again. Ill miss her D:

How is it SEPTEMBER already?

We are finally finding people to teach in our area who want to listen and who will progress. It feels so good to be teaching again. We are teaching two really great families right now. Moises and Erica, and Samuel and Maritza are the couples names. Sam and Maritza have a daughter who is 11 who has been going to church for months by herself, but when I came to the area hna Gutierrez said that she isnt baptized because the dad wouldnt give permission. But. I wanted to go to visit the parents and talk to them about this nonsense and the dad starts telling us that the mom has wanted to go to church for months with us. and he wants to too, but not yet. but they both want to get baptized too. and so Im a little confused but happy. :D Moises and Erica are interesting. Theyre abeautiful couple. She just had a baby. Moises literally stopped in the middle of the street on his motorcycle and looked at us and said HEY! When are you going to visit me at my house??? What had happened is we were visiting a member who doesnt go to church some days before, and I was sitting by the door, and a man walked by while we were singing, and I felt like waving. So I waved to this random guy while singing, and now he wants us to teach him. So we found his house and went a few days later. Erica has tons of questions. Im excited about these families.

Eggs.
We had a really fun zone activity today. We got soaked and I got an egg to the head. Also we had a slip and slide with lots of slippery soap. Water balloons. Bobbing for apples. Flour. HUEVOS!! Im sunburned. Im happy. Today was fun.

Last Monday night the lights went out in Choluteca for a few hours at night. The sky was real pretty. The problem was we couldnt visit anyone. It went out in the middle of our first P day appointment at 6 pm, and so we couldnt leave for our other appointments because its crazy dangerous when the lights go out. We got home because the bishop`came in his car and took us home.

the night that the lights went out. THANKS DAD for that awesome flashlight lantern :D

We also dont have water in our apartment. The little bit of water we have has things growing in it. By things I mean larvae of some kind. Mosquitoes maybe. All I know is there are things swimming. So. We cant use it. Hna Gutierrez says the water usually leaves for 2 weeks. Awesome!

pure beauty of hermana gutierrez and I this morning. yeah.

I love everything. Especially dripping sweat all day. haha. oh Choluteca.

Most of all, I especially love my Savior and Redeemer. I love Jesus Christ.

Asì es mi vida.
LES QUIERRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

love,
hermanita steele
ps.. guess what!! I get to sing with the sobrino of Donny Osmond. Elder Jameson Osmond is my zone leader. We are singing at the multi zone conference next week for ELDER DUNCAN OF THE 70.  yep im cool.

25s Salud is important

I want to be the reason for your smile :D

I had some weird virus this week. Por eso I dont have a lot to say (because I had to be in the house). The sun and heat down here are especially hard on my body for some reason.

Hermana Gutierrez should be staying for most of the change! I dont know what is going to happen at the end of this change when she leaves for Brazil and leaves me companion-less but we will see. I think I will just go with the other hermanas in my ward and share our two areas for a week.

I wanted to talk a little bit about a quote I read this week! Marion G Romney said this (something like this) to President Packer: <You cant just tell them so that they understand, you need to tell them so they cannotmisunderstand.>

Ive been applying that in my teachings a lot lately. I do not appreciate missionaries who are little wishy washy hermanas or elders who dont want to hurt someones feelings by telling them they need to repent and come closer to Christ through means of baptism in the only church that has authority from God to baptize

Im sorry, but isnt that what we are called to do? Preach REPENTANCE and the restored gospel of Christ with a voice of thunder. Think of Jesus and His example in the scriptures. He made people angry, because truth hurts. He didnt hold back. Think of Elder Holland. Does he hold anything back? no. y por eso he is one of the most beloved apostles. Im not saying to make people angry. But we need to be bold and direct with people so they cannot misunderstand.
I could go on all day about that quote. I have so much more to say about it. But right now just meditate its meaning for you.

Please pray that my companion and I can find more investigators. We sort of have almost no one. We are walking around talking to everyone and no one wants to meet with us. We visit the members and ask them for references and they tell us none of their friends want to meet with us. And Im just like. Thank you for all your support. Its really frustrating. The whole thing. We havent gotten to teach very much lately. And thats what Im good at, dangit!

Well we are still workin. Every day every moment. I know that there are people in this area for us to teach. Its just a long process sifting through people who say <ya voy a la iglesia> and <soy catolica> <ya tengo mi iglesia> and wont even let us share a liiiittle message about Jesus. THATS ALL WE WANT.

anyway. I miss you all and love you all. Have an amazing week!!

love, hermanita steele

24s the 6 month mark

6 months tomorrow. (8/19) How does the time fly so fast and so slow at the same time? the world may never know.

THE MARTINEZ FAMILY!!!! ay. they are a member family from Esperanza. I cant express how grateful I am for them and all the things they did for us and all the ways they helped us out. I miss them so much!!!

things are getting better in the area. its been a little hard because the last comp of hna gutierrez was really... well she didnt work very hard. and so trying to get everything started up again as it should be is hard and it cant be done all at the same time. so poco a poco we are getting on our feet here in choluteca.

Jose was baptized this saturday! he is 72 :D

A man named José was baptized this last Saturday! he was a fruit of before I came here. he is awesome. he talks all the time about how he wants to SERVE and hes not just getting baptized to warm up seats in the chapel! I wish every member of the church had this mentality.

David, Suyapa, and JAGGER :D mi amigo fiel. I love this child. I will never forget the joy he brings hehe I would walk into the house and all of a sudden there would be a jagger wrapped around my legs!!! he loved me sooooo much. more than any other missionary before me :P

our Bishop usually teaches our class for the investigators (gospel principles). this sunday he was busy the second hour of church and couldnt. so on the spot BOOM HERMANAS TEACH. well its okay cause thats all we do all day anyway (when were not walking around or getting rained on or drinking water). so me and hna moran (one of the sisters from the other set of hermanas in our ward) taught the class about the sacrament.

Sometimes we forget how important the sacrament is. When we eat the bread and water, we are continuting to make a covenant with God that we will follow His commandments and repent and always remember what His Son did for us. We are being cleansed of sin, if we have repented sincerely beforehand. It is something that needs to be prepared for, not just a thing we so in church on Sunday!!! It is an opportunity to remember our Savior and his sacrifice.

NOOOOOOO THE WORST THING JUST HAPPENED.

So hna Gutierrez and I are sitting here emailing. and someone calls us. and...
its the mission office.
her visa came.
her visa came for brazil.
like its good. that is where her call is. but. im sad. she is like my best friend.
idk when she will leave, but she has to be out of the country in 23 days at the max. :(
well that made it a sad p day. dangit.

BUT THATS OKAY WE STILL HAVE TIME TOGETHER AND WE WILL MAKE THE BEST OF IT.
dangit all.
D:

okay bye

love hermanita steele
